Dr. Stephen Barrett, a retired psychiatrist in Pennsylvania, can tell you. He maintains the wonderfully named Quackwatch site, which debunks many of these miracle cures. Dr. Barrett doesn’t like chiropractors, homeopathic remedies, and a bunch of other alternative medical treatments. His Web site may be a bit slanted, but is certainly interesting.
