The Dallas Morning News has a good article today about the new law raising juror pay in Texas to $40 per day, beginning with the second day of service. I have written about juror pay in two previous posts. Texas had the lowest pay rate in the country, at $6.00 per day — unchanged in more than 50 years.
The new pay rate should increase jury participation among lower-income citizens, and that should be a good thing for personal injury plaintiffs.
