The AP (3/10, Perrone) reports that Judge Richard Kyle “who dismissed thousands of lawsuits against Medtronic said Monday he will not remove himself from the case, despite criticism for not revealing that his son works for a law firm tied to the company.” Patients’ lawyers “argued that Kyle failed to disclose an important conflict of interest that could have swayed his judgment: his son is a lawyer and shareholder at the Minneapolis-based law firm Fredrikson & Byron, whose clients include Medtronic” however, the judge “rejected those concerns in an order handed down Monday in the U.S. District Court of Minnesota, saying he was not obligated to disclose the relationship.” The Minneapolis Star Tribune (3/10, Moore) also covers the story.
