We are in the middle of Consumer Protection week, and there is a government Web site dedicated to the education of consumers during this one week of each year. Here is a description from the National Consumer Protection Week site:
National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) is a coordinated campaign that encourages consumers nationwide to take full advantage of their consumer rights and make better-informed decisions. NCPW 2011 will take place on March 6 through 12, 2011.
NCPW.gov offers consumers a wealth of tips and information from federal and state government and non-profit partner organizations. Consumers can browse the selection of Free Materials to learn how to protect their privacy, stay safe online, manage their money, avoid identity theft, understand mortgages and steer clear of frauds and scams. You can download and print the materials and share them with friends and neighbors, or use the NCPW Toolkit to plan a larger NCPW community event. Follow the NCPW blog for discussions of the emerging issues and let us know about your local events.
