Employers May Fire Workers They Consider Too Attractive

Great news for lawyers, at least in Iowa — it’s safe to fire all your good-looking employees. If I did that, I’d be the only one left in the firm. But maybe your situation is different. Here’s the report from the American Association for Justice news release:

Reuters reported that the Iowa Supreme Court recently ruled that employers in the state may legally fire workers they consider to be too physically attractive. As Reuters noted, the court held unanimously that a dentist did not violate Iowa’s civil rights law when he dismissed a female dental assistant whom his wife considered a threat to their marriage. According to the decision, actions in which employers terminate employees they find too attractive do not constitute unlawful discrimination.

About This Blog

The title of this blog reflects my attitude toward those government agencies and insurance companies that routinely mistreat injured or disabled people. As a Dallas, Texas lawyer, I've spent more than 45 years trying to help those poor folk, and I have been frustrated daily by the actions of the people on the other side of their claims. (Sorry if I offended you...)
