Drugmaker Settles Allegations That It Paid Doctors To Prescribe Outdated Antidepressants

Wouldn’t this be terrible? You’re already suffering from depression, and then your doctor gives you an outdated, ineffective medication. You’d end up doubly depressed. This is just shameful behavior.

The AP reports that the US attorney’s office in San Francisco announced that the St. Louis-based drugmaker Mallinckrodt “will pay $3.5 million to settle allegations that it paid doctors to prescribe ‘outdated, third rate’ antidepressants and sleep aids.” A former employee “filed the lawsuit under a federal law that allows whistleblowers to sue companies accused of defrauding the government.”

From the American Association for Justice news release.

About This Blog

The title of this blog reflects my attitude toward those government agencies and insurance companies that routinely mistreat injured or disabled people. As a Dallas, Texas lawyer, I've spent more than 45 years trying to help those poor folk, and I have been frustrated daily by the actions of the people on the other side of their claims. (Sorry if I offended you...)
