Carfax Reports Increase in Odometer Rollback Fraud

The Street reports that according to Carfax, the number of odometer rollback cases are increasing each year. Chris Basso of Carfax explained that this is because it is not a difficult fraud to execute and many consumers are unaware of it. Basso added, “Rolling back mileage is a fairly profitable crime, since committing the fraud is relatively fast.” Basso also mentioned that there are now online tools that allow scammers to roll back mileage on multiple cars. The article adds, “At least 1.5 million cars have incorrect mileage and a minimum of another 200,000 cars are tampered with each year.”

About This Blog

The title of this blog reflects my attitude toward those government agencies and insurance companies that routinely mistreat injured or disabled people. As a Dallas, Texas lawyer, I've spent more than 45 years trying to help those poor folk, and I have been frustrated daily by the actions of the people on the other side of their claims. (Sorry if I offended you...)
