Forbes reports iSeeCars.com conducted a study to find which automakers have the lowest recall rates and which automakers have the most serious recalls. According to the study Porsche “leads all automakers in having the fewest vehicles recalled per each 1,000 units sold over the last three decades,” while Volkswagen has the highest recall rate. Forbes notes that it is “encouraging that car companies and the federal government have become increasingly proactive with regard to safety-related recalls,” especially in the wake of last week’s 11th confirmed US death linked to the massive Takata air bag inflator recall. Forbes precautions drivers to check their cars’ VIN on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website to see if their car has any unresolved safety recalls.
