Survey: Drivers Misunderstand Current Automated-Driving Technology

Forbes reports that “many drivers are convinced it’s possible to buy truly ‘autonomous’ cars, when in fact there’s no such thing available for sale, according to a recent report from the European New Car Assessment Program.” The Euro NCAP report said, “No car on the market today offers full automation or autonomy. [Still,] more than 70% of car drivers believe that it is already possible to purchase a car that can drive itself.” The Euro NCAP report “included test results for cars equipped with automated-driving technology, including Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane-Keeping Assist.” The report said, “Used correctly, this technology can help the driver to maintain a safe distance, speed, and to stay within the lane. … These systems should not be used in situations they are not designed for and should not be relied upon as an alternative to safe and controlled driving.”

About This Blog

The title of this blog reflects my attitude toward those government agencies and insurance companies that routinely mistreat injured or disabled people. As a Dallas, Texas lawyer, I've spent more than 45 years trying to help those poor folk, and I have been frustrated daily by the actions of the people on the other side of their claims. (Sorry if I offended you...)
