
The New York Times reports that because vehicles “now carry far more electronic equipment” and technology such as “autonomous driving relying on sensors, cameras and radar” is on the rise, “concern that cars could be seriously hacked…has prompted a new round of security efforts on the part of the auto industry.” According to a 2018 University of Michigan report, digital threats to self-driving cars include criminals, hackers, and thieves,” which is why “some companies that traditionally prefer to go it alone have teamed up to share best practices” in securing cars against such threats.”
