
The Texas The Department of Family and Protective Services is reviewing its investigations into the deaths of three infants in daycares, saying it might have incorrectly cleared caregivers who neglected the children before they died. In nine other cases questioned by the Statesman in which investigators ruled that abuse and neglect did not factor into the deaths, the department admitted the caregivers used unsafe sleep practices but said they were not subject to those rules because they occurred before a 2017 policy change.
