4 Steps to Help Get Your Insurance Claim to Go Through

A valid insurance claim shouldn’t be something that causes you to lose sleep over. There are ways that you can ensure that your claims are handled in a timely fashion. Here are some of the steps that you’ll want to take to guarantee that your insurance claim goes through quickly.

Report it Timely

Starting the clock ticking on your insurance claim means that you need to report it a timely manner. You may even want to get on the phone with your insurance agent after the more pertinent items have been taken care of at the scene of the accident. They will be able to give you the best advice for how to ensure that your claim will be covered. Take pictures as soon as possible so that you can start building your case. They may come in handy if the insurance company wants to drag out the issue.

Provide Requested Documentation

Get all of your documentation in a row before you submit it to your insurance company. Much of the back and forth can be removed if you give them everything that they ask for right away. It can dramatically reduce the amount of time that you have to wait to be reimbursed or have the repair completed. Make sure to keep records of everything that you send so that you can more accurately contest a possible refusal.

Hire an Adjuster

Talking to a public adjuster for insurance claims gives you a greater amount of leverage for your claim being processed. Submitting the documentation from the adjuster will also work to your benefit because your insurance company has an outside and objective opinion on your claim. They may lend more credibility to your claim if you’re willing to show them that you’re serious about getting your issue resolved in a timely manner.

Be Responsive

Make sure to keep lines of communication open with the insurance company. Getting frustrated and taking it out on them will only make them less likely to approve your claim. Document all of your interactions with the insurance company even when they’re over the phone. Make sure to include who you spoke with, the time, and the date of the conversations. This will allow you to file an appeal more readily if you have all of your facts together.

Insurance claim worries don’t need to take over your life. Use these tips to help you navigate through the insurance industry and have your claim approved.

About This Blog

The title of this blog reflects my attitude toward those government agencies and insurance companies that routinely mistreat injured or disabled people. As a Dallas, Texas lawyer, I've spent more than 45 years trying to help those poor folk, and I have been frustrated daily by the actions of the people on the other side of their claims. (Sorry if I offended you...)
