
Along with the rise in personal trainers has come a rise in trainer-related injuries and lawsuits. As the number of such lawsuits over injuries in the home and at gyms increases, the legal theories and defenses continue to evolve. Many of the lawsuits allege negligence and state the trainer failed to consider pre-existing injuries or medical conditions when developing the training regimen, provide appropriate types of exercises, limit the weights lifted or length of cardiac exercises, among other claims.
